Can I use IMAP or POP with the HuskyMail system?
If you wish to access your mail without connecting to the HuskyMail Website, you can configure your E-Mail client (Outlook, Outlook Express, Entourage, Netscape Messenger, etc...) to access your mail using IMAP. Instructions on how to set up IMAP for HuskyMail are located at http://huskymailsupport.uconn.edu/imap/.
The POP protocol is not supported.
Can I use @UConn.edu with my HuskyMail account?
If you feel your.name@UConn.edu is more convenient than your.name@HuskyMail.uconn.edu., they are interchangeable. @UConn.edu will act as an alias and automatically forward your E-Mail to the HuskyMail system
Can I change my E-Mail address (Personal Name) for the HuskyMail system?
Yes. You can submit the Student Personal Name Request form to formally change your personal name for the HuskyMail system. Just to note, however, the personal name request must be something similar to your real name. UITS will not grant the name change for anything too different from your actual name. If a personal name has been already assigned to another individual it will not be released for use until 6 months after that person has left the University. Personal Names can not be reserved.
How To Empty Your Trash In HuskyMail?
- Login to your HuskyMail account by going to http://huskymail.uconn.edu/
- Locate the "Trash" folder listed under your "INBOX" in the left-hand column.
- Click on the word "(Purge)" next to it:
Is E-Mail filtering available with the HuskyMail system?
Unfortunately filtering is not available at this time. However, you may configure an E-Mail client to use IMAP to retrive your HuskyMail. You can then use the filters in your client. You may also forward your HuskyMail to another E-Mail address. (See below.)
Can I upload my address book into HuskyMail?
No, not at this time. However, we have found this to be a popular request and are investigating possible solutions.
How do I forward my HuskyMail to another E-Mail account?
Please read these instructions completely (** it may also be helpful to print these directions**) before attempting to set a forward.
To set a forward on your HuskyMail account go to http://huskymailforwarding.uconn.edu then follow these steps:
- You will be brought to the NetID Single SignOn page, enter your NetID and password to log into the Huskymail forwarding page.
- When the new page opens, click on one of the Enable Forwarding choices:
Option 1: Keep a copy of the E-Mail on the Huskymail server.
- You must log into your Huskymail often to clean up your mailbox.
- If your mailbox becomes full (exceeding your quota of 25MB, the system will no longer continue to forward mail to the new location (even if you have space available on the forwarded E-Mail server). Any new incoming mail not yet delivered will be lost.
Option 2: Do not save a copy of the E-Mail on the Huskymail server.
- The E-Mail is simply passed on to the E-Mail account you chose.
- UITS cannot recover the mail being forwarded off of the Huskymail server.
- In the Forwarding Addresses box, enter the E-Mail address you would like to have your Huskymail forwarded to.
- Click the submit button.
